Report on the Kenya Connection High School Parents Meeting

On 13th July 2024, Kenya Connection held a High school parents’ meeting at Akiba School Nairobi. The primary aim of the meeting was to introduce parents to the Kenya Connection directors, discuss parental responsibilities, emphasize student discipline, outline the submission of report forms and fee structures, inform parents about the student breakaway camp, present the New Beginnings opportunity for Form Four graduates, and explain scholarship regulations with a focus on communication.

The meeting proceeded with a Testimonial session from parents who graduated from the
Ufalme Experience Program . Parents shared their experiences from the Ufalme Experience
Program, highlighting the positive impacts it had on their relationship with God, others and
the transformation made in their life. Caroline, one of the parents testified “I have learnt
about Forgiveness which is something I struggled with…”
in her testimony.

On Kenya Connection Scholarship Matters: Winnie begun with a recap on Kenya Connection’s mission and activities. She urged parents to stay committed to their responsibilities towards their children, who are scholarship students. She emphasized the importance of disciplining their children and nurturing them emotionally, spiritually, and materially. Moreover, on scholarship regulations and responsibilities: she stressed adherence to the scholarship regulations, urging parents to motivate their children to improve their performance and maintain good grades. She emphasized the importance of early submission of fee structures to avoid delays in fee payment and submission of report forms and sponsor letters from students. Furthermore, information was provided about the annual student camp, usually held in April or August, with assurance that communication about the camp will be made by the office. It was emphasized that the camp is free for students.

Towards the end of the meeting Winnie welcomed the Director to address the parents. In his address, David Chaves, the Executive Director of Kenya Connection, encouraged parents in their parenting roles and urged them to maintain communication with the Kenya Connection team. He conveyed greetings from wife Lucy Chaves, who was unable to attend. He also mentioned that the organization has been praying for the parents and students.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from one of the parents, followed by a prayer led by Hillary’s mother. A group photo session was held afterward.
