Thanks to a generous church partnership, Kenya Connection has been able to support expansion of sanitation facilities at Akiba School. This includes development of three new toilets, one new urinal, and one bathroom for the preschool and kindergarten students, as well as refurbishment of one urinal and two toilets and installation of new hand washing facilities for the lower and upper primary students.
The student population at Akiba has increased by more than 20% over the past year and the new facilities will help to support the growing student body. Akiba has gained prominence as the top performing school in it’s community and this has led to increased demand. Akiba offers quality education at very modest costs. The tuition fees for most students at Akiba School are covered by parents and guardians but scholarships are provided to those in need.
