Kenya Connection is proud to coordinate student sponsorships and scholarships at Akiba School.
Together, we serve students from humble backgrounds and share the opportunity for a quality, Christian education.
Currently, Kenya Connection supports about 80 students. Last year we helped 18 students successfully complete and graduate from Akiba High School. For many of these students, they were the first in their families to graduate from high school.
A group of graduates are now continuing through New Beginnings, a six month discipleship, discovery, mission, and skills building initiative.
The new academic year at Akiba School began in January 2018. Kenya Connection worked with teachers, community workers, and school alumni to interview and select 13 new students for sponsorship including 9 in high school and four in primary school. The selection criteria were: academic excellence, family background, and social and economic vulnerability. Most of those selected are orphaned or vulnerable children raised by single mothers or guardians in Kawangware slum.
